We maintain visibility across our supply chain — from plantation and mill through to refinery and distribution — to support accountability at every stage.
Traceability is fundamental to our responsible sourcing, and we are committed to mapping our raw materials completely from mills back to the plantations. Total supply chain visibility ensures our products are produced responsibly and ethically.
Although mapping this network is a complex process involving many smallholders and middle agents, we have successfully met these challenges using digital traceability tools, active supplier engagement, and targeted technical training.
Through these proactive measures, we have streamlined our data verification, strengthened supply chain accountability, and are now very close to achieving 100% Traceability to Plantation (TTP).

Traceability to Mill

Traceability to Mill
To ensure 100% traceability to mills, we require our suppliers to provide critical information, including the mill's name, address, and GPS coordinates. This supplier information is publicly available on our traceability dashboard below.
On this page, stakeholders can view our traceability profile and access suppliers’ data, such as their name, parent company, address, GPS coordinates, and a unique identifier called UML ID. The UML ID was developed by a consortium that includes the World Resources Institute, Rainforest Alliance, Proforest, and Daemeter.
We have been fully traceable to the mill level since 2018.

Traceability to Plantation

Traceability to Plantation
Traceability to plantations is more challenging than to mills due to the vast and diverse sources of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFBs). A single mill's supply chain may include large plantations, smaller farms, and numerous smallholders—many of whom work on land as small as 0.5 hectares and who sell their crop through middlemen. It is worth noting that smallholders are responsible for 40% of Indonesia's palm fruit production.
Given this complexity, along with limited time and resources, we have adopted a three-tiered, risk-based approach to plantation traceability
Tier one: Not traceable to plantation
This tier describes mills without any traceability information and is thus considered not traceable to plantation.
Tier two: Traceable to plantation (risk based approach)
This tier describes non high-risk mills that have mapped out their supplying agents/intermediaries network and have collected supply sheds information from their network.
To be considered tier two traceable, the supplying mills must have collected the following information from their suppliers:

This tier describes mills that have mapped out their supplying agents/intermediaries network and have collected individual plantations information (GPS coordinate or polygon) from their suppliers.

In our risk-based approach, independent outgrowers, smallholders, agents, and middlemen are only required to disclose the area or village where they grow or source their fruits. If suppliers source from villages that overlap with protected areas, such as national parks or wildlife reserves, they are considered high-risk suppliers and prioritized for more detailed assesment.
