Permata Group received a report from Starling on potential deforestation located in Perkebunan Nusantara I (PTPN I) plasma estate, called Pirsus (Perkebunan Inti Rakyat Khusus) Krueng Bayeun. The land cleared is allegedly to be around 50 hectares starting from Q1 2016 to Q1 2022.

Permata Group reached out to PTPN I requesting clarifications in regards to the allegation.

PTPN I stated that the plasma estate "Pirsus Krueng Bayeun" is not part of its management anymore, as the partnership ended decades ago in 1989 and that they do not source any Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from Krueng Bayeun since then Based on the documentation provided by PTPN I, Permata Group conclude that PTPN I did not source any FFB from Pirsus Krueng Bayeun This is further enforced with a written commitment of PTPN I, along with their third party suppliers, stating that they will not source any FFB within Pirsus Krueng Bayeun area
Current Status / Resolution
Based on the findings and response above, we consider this case closed. PTPN I did not source FFB from the area in question.
